Mission Statement

Pacific Training Institute (PTI) aims to provide the best teaching and support, appropriate for peoples of Maori, Pacific Islands and other ethnic origins to help learners gain credits toward recognized New Zealand Qualifications Authority National Certificates and prepare for employment, further study and full participation in New Zealand Society.

Pacific Training Institute facilitates successful outcomes based upon a culturally familiar and learner-centered environment to motivate and reach out to meet the needs of individual learners and the wider community.

Philosophy

  • PTI is committed to the following outcomes and objectives:
  • Establishing and maintaining a local community based on the whanaunatanga concept so that staff, students and even our visitors can sense a unique ‘PTI culture’ that welcomes all and excludes none
  • The educational, social, moral, personal and physical development of our students
  • Providing current and relevant training courses that optimize the opportunities for our students to secure employment and/or their integration into New Zealand society
  • Being a good employer: attracting and retaining the best staff, valuing their work, promoting high levels of performance and supporting ongoing training and development
  • Continually improving the delivery of training, and of the management and administrative practices of the organisation, to ensure the most effective and efficient use of our resources to maximize the benefits to our students and families
  • Growing an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity amongst our staff and students and demonstrating respect for that diversity by accommodating the respective needs of these cultural groups
  • Developing and maintaining an atmosphere based on honesty, integrity and respect by both collective groups (such as members of a specific course, the staff or ethnic groups etc.) and individuals (staff or students)
  • Providing an environment where people can communicate openly without fear of humiliation, ridicule, unfair challenge etc., and where mistakes are seen as valid opportunities to learn without attracting penalty
  • Within the staff, supporting each other in our personal and professional development to the benefit of the student body, the organisation and the community at large.
