Accommodation

The PTI Administrator is available for students requiring assistance with accommodation. The Administrator is located at PTI reception area and is available Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.

The following types of accommodation are available:

  • Homestay - For those students wishing to experience New Zealand family life, PTI can arrange homestay accommodation for the students. Homestay is the most popular choice of accommodation amongst students at PTI. Living with a homestay family is recommended for students as it helps the student adjust to living in a new country and attending a new school, and will greatly improve their English. Students are required to stay a minimum period of 3 weeks with their initial homestay. This can be renewed once the period is completed. The cost of the Homestay is NZ$200 per week. This covers accommodation and three meals a day including one cooked meal, seven days a week.
  • Hostel Accommodation - Some students may prefer accommodation with other New Zealand and International students. The cost of hostel accommodation is up to NZ$200 per week. This covers accommodation and meals seven days a week.
  • Renting/Flatting - Most students in New Zealand often rent houses/apartments/flats with friends. PTI can help students find a real estate agent who can provide rental accommodation. Alternatively, the students may find rental properties in local newspapers. The cost of rental properties varies dependant on size and location. Flats are normally unfurnished and students should expect to pay from about NZ$100 to NZ$150 per room per week (food and expenses excluded) if sharing with friends. Students may have to arrange the connection of phone, electricity, and/or gas and be responsible for paying for them. Many rental property owners require a lease of one year or more. For further information about renting please check New Zealand Tenancy Service website.
